Taager, a Cairo-founded e-commerce enablement platform, has announced the launch of its first dedicated sourcing office in China. With this move, the company is evolving beyond being a software layer to become a fully integrated cross-border commerce infrastructure provider. The expansion aims to facilitate regional sellers’ access to the global supply chain.
Product Lifecycle Control
This step enables Taager to oversee the entire product lifecycle before items reach warehouses in Riyadh or Cairo. This includes:
-On-ground quality assurance: Conducting direct inspections of goods to reduce return rates, one of the key challenges facing e-commerce in the Middle East and North Africa region.
-Direct supplier partnerships: Negotiating at the factory level to ensure competitive pricing for merchants.
-Agile sourcing: Identifying and transferring trending global products to the MENA market faster than traditional import cycles allow.
-Enhanced SKU diversity: Gaining direct access to a broader range of stock-keeping units, with stronger links to suppliers and manufacturers.
Empowering Sellers
Commenting on the expansion, Mohamed Helal, Vice President of Sourcing at Taager, said: “We have always focused on empowering sellers to scale across markets without the need to hold inventory. However, to unlock the next level of growth, we needed to be closer to the sources of supply, and closer to how products are sourced, evaluated, and moved. This office is not just about expansion; it’s about control and reliability.”
